Term Three Inquiry

Term Three Inquiry

As it being the first week of term three, we have a new inquiry. Last term our inquiry was Korara (Fairy penguin).

This term we have three different subjects for our inquiry. The first subject is the Olympics.
For the start of this subject we have gotten given booklets from Kiwi Kids news, that have all kinds of questions and facts about the Olympics. Some parts are about the ancient Olympics and in some parts you have to write all you know about a kiwi athlete. We have three weeks to complete the booklet.

This week I have to get a task that one of my workshops gave me, which is to write a report about Japan who is hosting the Olympics this year. I am including the flag, the capital, the president ect.

The second subject is about New Zealander Jean Batten. She is the first woman to fly a plane across the south atlantic. We will be doing research about until the last few weeks of this term when we will have a whole day of school showing what we found out about her.

The last inquiry subject we're doing is all about enviro, where we will probably be heading over to Hamanatua stream. Last year we tried to weed all the fennel there, and there was so much that it was way to hard. Some more fennel grew over the holidays, and so the council decided to take it all out. For parts of this term we might be taking out extra fennel, and planting more plants.

We will also be having an action day, we are going to Mangaone Station to plant the wetland and we will be walking up a hill and planting the 200 trees we won last term.

The name of our inquiry subjects all up will be called Going for Gold. I'm really excited for this busy term.
